Looking for a quote on step notch installation

i really dont wanna tackle this myself since i dont think im good enough at welding for something like this. so...whats an average price range for someone to install a monster notch in my 67 suburban? i think im gonna call a shop down the street for a quote and want to know what a fair price is for something like this. thanks!

body on/off, floor cut or not, how big of notch, does it need a bridge, single/double. lots of factors.

Re: Looking for a quote on step notch installation

its a suburban so the body stays on. I want to get the monster notch from suicidedoors. floor cut. no bridge, im using bag on trailing arms. a basic monster notch, nothing fancy, cheapest safest route. thanks for the response

Might as well tie the two notches together even though you're planning to keep the bags in the OE location.... just in case you change your mind later.

i thought about that. could they just fab up some bars across or would i have to buy the bridge kit instead of regular notch?

yes, i talked with them about a month ago. i think its close to 550 shipped. if it comes out cheaper than paying someone to weld one in then i may go that route. i just wish it was cheaper or i would have got it a long time ago.

Re: Looking for a quote on step notch installation

i have welded a handful of notches in on trucks. i think with the body on it is going to be a bitcn. have you got a notch yet? sd, porter, or kp. i ordered mine from porterbuilt on thursday last. might want to get a price from him. i would say i could do it for ya. just buy the wire and some money for 75/25. the only thing that scares me is the body on and no lift.

Re: Looking for a quote on step notch installation

$500..... dang I used to do them all day long for $150 plus the $89 8 pc notch from Alter Images. That includes pulling the box and cutting the hole. Another $50 to run two tubes from notch to notch. Guess I should have charged more I might not have gotten a better paying job when I bought my house.

Re: Looking for a quote on step notch installation

lol hey hey, no need to go up...im sure that shop is overpriced...I hope lol. so im guessing that's too high...I think I would rather spend the 5 something on pb bolt in step notch. at least this way I can say I did it my self, and its still cheaper. I guess I can call around...that's really the only shop without taking my truck to houston

Re: Looking for a quote on step notch installation

I got my notch from kp components and set it up myself with c-clamps then had a buddy of mine come by and weld it all together. Took him a couple of hours and a case of beer. We also put in some 2x2 sqaure tubing in between to tie them together. It came out real nice.
If you know someone that welds good I would ask for their help first and set it up yourself.

Re: Looking for a quote on step notch installation

I was thinking I could do that. whoever does it I want them to do the least work possible. so whatever I can do myself I will. like cut out the floor, clamp on the notch, and even clean up the frame to weld. that way they can come and weld it on and not have to do it all day, good idea. how much was the kp notch?

Re: Looking for a quote on step notch installation

i got mine today from porterbuilt street rods, trust me when i say this, buy it from him. that damn thing is so nice i was scared to weld it together. it was already tacked together and assembled to sit in plain with the rails. pm him and get a quote. he custom built mine to my dimensions and tacked it together for a slide over the rails fit. props to pb man.

Let me know how large of a tire you will be running, and if you want it to be built to lay frame.

This is how the "unwelded" version comes:
