FNG with a new truck "FIREBEAST"
...well that's what my Dad and little brother are calling it atleast.
Just wanted to say "Hey" and introduce myself. This is an awesome website with a lot of talented and knowledgeable people. I started looking for a truck awhile back and originally I was looking for a simple square body seeing as my Grandad had one and i had some good memories of that truck. As I looked around the simple truck idea morphed into; room for the kids, suspension strudy enough to tow, 4wd etc. etc. I looked at just about everything under the sun in my immeadiate area. Until my wife found this beauty...... It's a 1979 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburban with Silverado trim and was at one time used as a Fire Dept. Vehicle. She's got a couple rough spots but she'll be fun to work on. And yes the Lights and Siren works : She runs great just needs some maintainence done. I'll take better pictures over the holiday,

Re: FNG with a new truck "FIREBEAST"
Hey thanks guys,
I wasn't even looking for a suburban but this one spoke to me. Probalbly the lights and siren I bought her for a winter 4wdriver, for runs to Lowes etc and to tow my GTO. Right now the plan is to identify and sort out any mechanical issues, change the fluids and filters and get her reliable. Then she might get a mild lift. After all that or atleast when it starts to warm up start to tackle the sheet metal. She's gonna need rockers and a few patches here and there. Yeah i like the Fire Truck scheme for now but we'll see when I get done stitchin her up. The interior is not bad but it's one area I really want to redo. Newer seats and benchs with the shoulder belts built in (kids). Deep 6 the rubber floor mating in favor of carpet an generally update things to make it comfortable for long trips. Like the idea of upgrading the drivetrain to something like an LQ4 and overdrive trans but we'll have to see. Right now it has the original 4bbl 350 and TH400. Lots of possibilities.
