Olds 350 DX hp

I got this long block engine when I bought my truck. Opened one head to check it out. Ross pistons Pulled the pan. 4 bolt mains I do not recall the conn rods. 455 bb K heads. I have heard this DX block is a 500 to 700 HP capacity. Anybody have any thoughts? or suggestions.

Re: Olds 350 DX hp

Don't know alot about them, but have been told they are one of the more durable HP per CI Olds combos. The DX is without argument the strongest OE Olds block. I think a 440ish CI build is common with a steel 425 crank, or a small cube version with a steel 330 crank. What crank is in yours? I thought the later "K" heads were not much good for making power (big CC's). I wonder if the builder was going turbo or nitrous?

Hmm, a friend has several DX engines, I have a 330, 403, 425, 455- maybe I should...

Re: Olds 350 DX hp

Guess I was thinking about "J" heads. Here is what I found on the "K" heads.

Marine, irrigation, industrial, W-30/Toro, 442 4-speed replacement head. Most were big valve units.

Re: Olds 350 DX hp

I do not know what crank. K heads are 80cc, unless shaved.

I say bolt on a good flowing set of heads . Take the intake to Ratt Daddy in Baytown , have it plumbed for a fogger , and spray it with at least 250 .
