4x4 leaf springs
What is the difference between 60-66 4x4 leaf springs and springs for 73-87? The PO had some custom springs made for my truck since he was a mason by trade. They are so stiff he could pick up 2 cubes of bricks and it didnt even squat. My problem is there is more give in the seat springs than the leaf springs. The last straw was hitting a speed bump too fast and hitting my head on the roof.
Where can I get some softer springs? Please help. |

Re: 4x4 leaf springs
My 66 K10 had fairly flat spring pack and a axle riser that was about 8-10 inches high and a rubber snubber on frame. there is a pic in the assembly manual.

Re: 4x4 leaf springs
I want to replace all of them. I think the fronts might be stock but I know the rear are not. The rear has 9 leafs in it. Only place I found that sells them is LMC

Re: 4x4 leaf springs
Thats the only place you can get them, unless you get some made at a spring shop. I got a 76 chevy 4x4 frame and pulled the spring hangers off it and bolted it to my 61 4x4 frame. Now I can use any leaf spring from 73-87 4x4 trucks. Thats if you want to go through all this trouble.
Check out this thread, this is my truck. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=333036 Last edited by 62 short step; 12-27-2009 at 07:36 PM. |
