Re: air dam
My 87' V10 didn't come with tow hooks, so when I put on a set of factory ones, I needed the new air dam with the cut outs. Chevy Duty and LMC said they didn't have anymore and that G.M. had decided to no longer produce them. I went to my local Chevy dealer and he found one at another dealer. Pricey, but it looks correct. I could have cut the slots in my old one, but it would have looked tacky I thought. Both places had the standard air dam though. My recommendation would be Chevy Duty (Classic Industries). They told me theirs were G.M. LMC told me theirs were repo. Classic's price on the G.M. one was actually cheaper than the G.M. dealer, they just didn't have them anymore! Good luck!

Re: air dam
They are different bumpers, and different air dams. The late model ones mount directly to the bumper itself. You may be able to hang one, but I am not sure what it would take.

Re: air dam
i guess i just like the wide flat look of the 80's dams, and the one on my 79 has two bolts holding it to the frame. and idk how the 80's model air dams are mounted

Re: air dam
There are some "J" clips and holes in the bumper. The air dam has matching holes, it all bots together. So, you may be able to drill an older (73-80) bumper to attach the late model air dam. But I would find 2 to trial fit before drilling.

Re: air dam
I got mine from work (dealership) and made the openings in it myself for the tow hooks.
