i would just go find a tired 350 for cheap, and put some money into it, i have a little less than 1000 in the 383 in the el camino, bought the motor for 150, and it runs STRONG!

do a ls motor swap, the best bang for the buck and reliability can't be better.

well ya could go redneck 383 buy a 400 and drop the rotating assembly into your 350. but i think my stock 350 aint doing to bad stock all its got is duel exhaust k&n air cleaner, it would be perty strong with a lil more cam like the comp 260, a good port and polish and a built q-jet. what do you plan on doing w ur truck?

or you could go the hot rod route like im gonna go w the 84 camaro im getin from my cousin(couse i know its happened you want faster times at the track now)
4 bolt main 350, 10 to 1 flat tops, 64cc angled plug flo tec alum heads, comp 292h magnum cam kit, roller rockers, weiand stelth intake w holley 750 dp, and a few other things like balancing the engine. but then ya loose all your streetablilty so daily driver or hot rod or a lil of both choose your parts rite is the main thing. like have a huge cam w no compression will run realy realy bad

i want power(well anything is a upgrade from my 305) but i want it to be streetable, somthing me and my dad could do in the garage.10to1 compression is a bit much for what im going to be needing.im looking for 350-400 ponnys with out throwing a bunch of money at this motor.

well that aint gonna be to hard 350 with vortec heads, stock dished pistons good duel plane low rise intake (ex. weiand action plus), headers, and a towing cam the comp 260 is a good cam, my buddy ran a set up close to this in his 76 3/4 ton and that truck would move and he was geting like 17 mpg till that dodge hit him

so that wouldnt be that hard for them kind of hp numbers?
what about a 90s vortec motor and i put a carb and cam in it.
what about a lt1?

yea his had the stock intake tho, and he was pushing 300 horses it was a strong truck he could bark 2nd gear no prob after his five speed conversion.

his truck had a cam symiler to the comp 260(had a lil less duration perty sure), milled vortec heads with 3 anvle valve grinds, roller tip rockers, good back yard port and polish, stock q jet intake ported, old cheap headers and glass packs but that truck wold roll had alot of fun crusin through town
yea man you dont have 2 drop a ton of money in a motor to make it hot unless it is a six!
