Question on drum brakes
Does anyone with a 64-66 GMC know if the wheel cylinders for these trucks are the same for front and rear? Or are they different i.e. bore sizes at the front as apposed to the rear?Maybe this question has been raised before just can't find it.

Re: Question on drum brakes
NAPAonline.com shows different part numbers for front and rear, so I'm going with them being different bore sizes.
Also, they are shaped different. -W |

Re: Question on drum brakes
They are different. Rear is the one on the left.

Re: Question on drum brakes
From memory the only parts the same front to rear are the shoes (Raybestos #280) and the drums.
The wheel cylinders (as previously stated) and hardware kits are different. |

Re: Question on drum brakes
Just an FYI, When I did mine, I got a quote from RockAuto and took it to my local Advance Auto Parts. They matched it and I saved some $$$.
I don't know how familiar you are with doing drum brakes- especially front, I took a picture of mine before tear down. Sure helped when I put them back together. |

Re: Question on drum brakes
Yeah, drums aren't that difficult,I use to drive a 65 GTO when I was younger the set ups are pretty much the same as far as the system goes.

Re: Question on drum brakes
Throw them away and convert to disks, you will not be sorry...I did that conversion over 20 years ago, the single best upgrade I ever did
