gas gauge sending unit install tool WTB
hey i was wondering if you guys had an extra tool for getting the lockring off the sending unit? ive seen it in a how to article but i cant get it locally, anybody got any extras kicking around they want to sell to me? everybody i talked to says just hammer it around but i dont want to risk breaking the ring as i dont have another one im reusing it. and it also makes the job so much quicker and easier. thanks shipping would be to 02645.

If you use a screwdriver and a hammer to tap it gently, you can "walk" the ring around and remove it. I have done it this way and did not damage anything. If you still want the tool, here's a bump for ya.

Make sure you use a NON sparking tool.....gas burns very hot!!

i didnt know such a tool existed, ive always used a screwdriver and a hammer to walk it around, always works great for me

Got mine at www.truckandcarshop.com (part number 67-108065) $13.00 (800-243-8947) Haven't use it yet, so I cant tell you how well it's works. It's the same one you have in the picture.

what hayhauler71 said! Just tap on a different tab each time and walk around the ring. Put a little vaseline on the o ring when ya put it back together makes it lots easier and ya wont tear it.
