How do you remove a heater core?
I have a 1987 c10 and getting ready to replace my heater core. I have it bypassed for now. It was filling up my floor board. It does have A/C but I dont have it hooked up as I have all the components pulled out for replacement.

Re: How do you remove a heater core?
I did mine in the '85 C30 a couple years ago. It wasn't much fun, but it's not impossible either. You need to pull out the glove box and disconnect all the heater ducting to get to it. Also, there's two studs that go through the firewall that secure the whole shebang. You'll have to get under the hood to take the nuts off the studs, and of course the two heater hoses. Take your time and try not to break anything. A lot of the stuff is plastic and it breaks pretty easily. There's a decent write-up in the Haynes manual.

Re: How do you remove a heater core?
Thats right, but I believe there are three studs go through under the hood the hardest part for me is getting the box that holds the heater core apart look all over there are some screws that are a little tricky to find

Re: How do you remove a heater core?
Tricky part is getting to the nuts/studs that are behind the inner fender where it comes close to the firewall... Take your time. It took me a good 4-5 hours to do it my first time. Besides the bottom couple of nuts/studs the worst part was under the dash, removing all the ducting and stuff.

Re: How do you remove a heater core?
Thanks for all your help. I just so happen to own a Haynes manual but didnt think about it being in there. Still sounds like a fun task!
