anyone have door/window pics?
When I got my truck it was in piece so I have no clue how the doors/windows all go together.
I just realized that there is trim that runs around the permitter of the window, is this true? To avoid any other surprises if yall could post pictures from assembling the doors/windows I'd appreciate it, thanks. |

Re: anyone have door/window pics?
Inside trim? or the outside trim? My '49 Deluxe Cab has both. I never have removed the outer so I don't know how it goes on, but I can go take a pic of the inside if you need it.

Oh, you mean the metal that encases the door window?

Re: anyone have door/window pics?
yes, does the 51-54 truck has this? LMC doesnt list is for 51-54 but does for 47-50. I never knew any of them had it until i was just reading the catalog.

Re: anyone have door/window pics?
I think thats it. I know there is the piece that bolts to the inside of the door, and the piece that clips on the outside of the window opening. Im talking about the metal that attaches to the window itself.
Does this exist on a 51-54? |

Re: anyone have door/window pics?
Sorry I edited the last post. No I don't think it does, because you have vent windows.

Re: anyone have door/window pics?
Alright, thanks.
this is becoming very hard to put all this together without ever having something together to look at in the first place. never again will I buy just sheetmetal and buy/build as I go. |

Re: anyone have door/window pics?
Cajun-
I wanted smooth glass, so I removed the metal trim that you are speaking of. Bad news for you I didn't keep it. You could just change to a different C channel and not worry about the metal trim. I have a source for this channel that will hold 1/4 thick glass. The glass is 1/4" thick if you remove the metal trim. Let me know, if you are intrested and I can look up the buisness card when I get home. Marc |

Re: anyone have door/window pics?
Hey Cajun, Dont know if this will help but here is a couple of picts of my 54 gmc. It didnt come with side glass but it does have the inside and outside molding and what looks like metal chanel that once had rubber on it where the window sits in the chanel.

Re: anyone have door/window pics?
I know that the metal channel in the door is incased in felt/rubber, Im asking about the glass itself, is it incased in a metal perimeter?

The metal around the glass is just a frame. There are two small screws that attach the metal frame to the bottom metal base of the window. I removed mine so that I could go with the new smooth glass. Then since my glass was now 1/4 thick I needed to get the different felt to make up the difference since I removed the metal trim. In other words the factory felt from Steele products was too wide. Here is the info: Harding Automotive 1069 Reinhart Rd. Loogootee, IN 47553 812 295-3544 cell 218 425-4247 His name is Harry. Tell him that you need glass channel for 1/4 thick glass. I bought them from him at a swap meet. I don't recall the price but I didn't care since he had what I needed. Thats all I got.......... Marc |

Re: anyone have door/window pics?
The 47-50 glass has the steel frame on it that is held onto the regulator part by some screws. The felt channel is wide, like 1/2" to account for this frame.
In '51 they put vent windows in, cut the felt channel down, and ditched the metal surround so a door with a vent window has just glass and like 1/4" felt. Most swap meets will have a guy selling the felt by the length. |
