tranny help?
i have a 62 with a stock 4 on the floor. what manual transmission could i put in to give it an overdrive gear that would be fairly easy to hook up?

It depends on what you call easy. You could go with either a BW T5 or a NV3500. There is a sticky in the 'Engine and Drivetrain' section on the T5 install. The NV3500's were used in the '88 and newer trucks and used a hydraulic clutch, which you currently have. That might make a swap to the NV3500 a little easier. But the problem with the NV3500 is that they have an electric speedo. I don't know if there is a way to convert to a mechanical speedo without spending a bunch of $$

Another option is to just swap in a wide ratio Muncie or T10 passenger car 4 speed. There are a variety of low gears to choose from and if low gear is low enough and the gears evenly spread, something between a 3.08 up to a 3.50 rear end would give good acceleration along with practical mileage. It may also be a direct bolt in depending on how the driveshaft currently connects to the existing transmission.
