will 15's fit with front disc brakes??

i just switched my c20 to 6 lug disc brakes, i don't have rims for it yet so do you guys know if i can run 15'' steel rims or do i need to go to 16's to clear the calipers? i want to run narrow rims, like 5", with bias whites.

Re: will 15's fit with front disc brakes??

I've run 15x6 steel wheels and 15x5 mags on factory 1975 five lug disc brakes. Unfortunately I don't know the diameter of the 6 lug rotors. If they are the same size as the 5 lug rotors you shouldn't have a problem. You'll probably need to use "disc brake" wheels however. The back side of original 50's-60's factory drum brake wheels have a tapered funnel shape that generally will not clear disc brake calipers. On the later disc brake wheels the rear of the wheel is more of a straight cylinder shape providing the needed clearance.

I have '66 with 6 lug and CCP disc brake conversion, running on 15 steel with no problems.

Re: will 15's fit with front disc brakes??

I have the same setup as C10Slim. I run 15X8 crager chrome steel 6 lug wheels but I had to use 1/4" wafer spacers to clear the calipers.

15'' truck rallys clear my dropped spindles and brakes by about 1/16th of an inch. I was just under there and noticed how close it was; works fine.

Re: will 15's fit with front disc brakes??

I am running 15" aluminum rims with CPP GM rotors and calipers and no clearance problems.
Some older steel rims do not have a relief edge in the back side of the rim. It was put there in later years to allow clearance for the calipers. check the back side on your rim , to see if there is a "step down" for clearance in the backspace area.
