I looked through this web site and can not find the answer. I have a 63 rear end. brake assembly removed axle shafts removed. However the brake backing plate is putting up a fight how is this removed it seems it is pressed on?? it is not bolted in place.

Re: 63 rear end
Ya mine were a bit rusted on as well, if you have the 12 bolt rear the backing plates are pressed on with a fine spline to keep them from turning. i heated them up and hamered them off. good luck

Re: 63 rear end
Are you trying to convert to rear disc's? I didn't find any help or "bolt on" conversions for '63, because of the pressed on plate. I decided to take the easy way out and just keep drum brakes on the rear. You are going to have to do some fab/welding to mount a flange, etc. Post your progress, we would love to see your solutions. Good luck.
