Re: Chalet hounds...here you go.
Chalets can be had for one less zero, there's 50+ for sale around the country, PM me for specific info on the general locations I have on my Google map of 'em.
Here's an entertaining detail about this particular one: it is "BigBlock" 's old Chalet, see the post about when he bought it and drove it cross country here. So this seller is at least the 4th owner, as "BigBlock" sold it to a guy in Durham NC who had it for sale from July '08 to whenever he sold it for $3800, a price that may have been a bit low considering how nice it is. This seller may be basing his price (unless it is a typo like the gas tank capacity) on this still-functioning ad, which is the same serial #0058 that sold at the Jan '09 Barrett-Jackson auction for $9,350. I haven't seen one sold to a private seller for any higher amount yet.

Re: Chalet hounds...here you go.
My Chalet was #0023 built 4/76 and I was the second owner. Sold it to a friend locally. He was third owner. I was told it was sold to a man who lived in TENN. as a father, son project. I guess it ended up in GA. My Chalet was sold new in St. Louis Mo. and the original owner received it as a college graduation gift from his parents. He relocated to California in 77/78 with a new employment opportunity . It remained in California until I purchased it in 2004 and drove it back to NC. That's funny I sold it for $2000 and my friend, he dropped $1800 in new parts in it and was asking $3800 for it when he sold it! I never asked how much he sold it for. The body had a little rust in the bottom of the front fenders and that about it. The camper was original and need work. The tent material was starting to tear in the corners and needed replaced. The paint was getting thin. All in all it was in above average condition. But $22000!!!! I paid $3500 and it sat for 4 year. My friend spent $1800 in parts getting back in good running condition and getting the a/c working. Unless the new owner has worked on the interior and tent top, It did have 2 extra gas tanks on it. The original owner put them on. They were aftermarket gas tanks and I think I still have the orginal brocher on them. All I can say is good luck with the sale.

Re: Chalet hounds...here you go.
Oh, brother, here we go again with the speculators. The very same serial #0023 pops up again, the last I saw of it from our Yahoo forum member (who dropped out right after he sold it around January) was its Dec Craigslist ad where it was priced at $7,000.
http://www.streetsideclassics.com/sh...lazer--Chalet- Yes indeed, this eBay sale tracker site does show that the #1385 Chalet did sell for $21,500 (2nd row of pics there), but I saved the bid history printout of that listing, and it was a single Texas bidder who sent it to its reserve price after the 10 grand mark. That same #1385 rig held the previous high sale price that I'm aware of, which my educated guess is just a bit over the 10 grand mark, judging from the eBay bid limit it ended at before a member of our Chalet forum bought it. Shines up nice. Wild how it sat for sale in NC for a bit under 4 grand for over a year.

Re: Chalet hounds...here you go.
Wow, I bought it for $3500 owned it for six years and sold it to someone I knew for $2000. It was in need of alot of repairs. I can't believe there asking price. More power to them if they get it.

Re: Chalet hounds...here you go.
Anybody that has owned one of this will tell you they handle poorly they are top heavy. Gas mileage is not any better. Mine had a 350 ci engine but the later ones came with the 400 ci engine. Drove it across country and it is a handful in the mountains.

Re: Chalet hounds...here you go.
And it is back, for at least the next 6 days on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/290817279765
Unlike the #1237 Chalet which was also listed recently at probably too high of a starting bid, at least this one starts out low enough prompt some bidding and thus allow some feel of what the private sale going rate is for ones in fairly decent shape.

Re: Chalet hounds...here you go.
Glad to see it. Still in pretty original condition. The guy I sold to her in NC. did the needed mechanical repairs and sold it. Doesn't look like any other work has been done to it. Wouldn't mind having it back. No place to keep it out of the weather. That's one reason I sold in the first place. That and I own 9 vehicles now!

Re: Chalet hounds...here you go.
Most of them just rusted away. Less than 1800 built in 1976-1977. hard to find a nice one.

Re: Chalet hounds...here you go.
Winning bid is 12 grand today. Now the next question is whether it finally went to a permanent home or if it will pop up again on eBay or elsewhere for 20 to 30 grand.

Re: Chalet hounds...here you go.
The seller sure gives a book of info. About all you'd need to know except the price
