Cool 64 C10 Fuel tank

Hello,
I'm currently trying to restore my 64 Chevy and don't have the money to spend on an aftermarket fuel tank that will fit with in the frame rails. Does anyone know if a late 70s suburban fuel tank will fit a 64 Chevy C10. I read it in a thread somewhere that one would fit but don't remember the specific year. Thanks for the help and keep the heartbeat going everyone.

Welcome to the forum

The Suburban tank will fit between the frame rails. You may need to trim a little, but the ourside of the frames are the same width. Now where you may run into problems is in the length (front to rear). Most of those Suburban tanks are fairly large, so consequently they are somewhat long. Depending on what size the tank is (gallons) and whether your truck is a longbed or shortbed, will determine if it will work or not. You might getaway with moving a crossmember and making it fit. If the one you found won't work, try looking for one in a '73 and up K5 Blazer. They are often a little smaller. Of course the for sure one is the '69-'72 Blazer, but they are pretty hard to find used these days.

If you could afford it going with a new replacement '69-'72 Blazer tank might be worth the added expense. You would have a brand new clean gas tank. Fighting a bunch of junk ending up in your carburator constantly can be frustrating.

Check with some of the board vendors such as MBGMike, GMC Pauls, and there may be another or two that I can't think of right now. I also like dealing with Classic parts.

Re: 64 C10 Fuel tank

I know money is tight, it is with me also, but right now there is a group buy opportunity for a steel tank here...

maybe if you call them, you can make the deal and send what you have and then make payments. when it is all paid for he can make it, just an idea, ask Dave and see if he would do that, you will be happier with the steel tank

Hey 63 & 64 Bowties, have you bought stuff from speedyautoparts.com? There website was not working. I was going to see what shipping was. $45.00 for the blazer tank is a great price unless shipping is alot.

Re: 64 C10 Fuel tank

Can anyone tell me if a 1986 blazer tank will fit under my 64 SWB? I have a chance to get one for $20
Thanks,
