Re: gas pedal
I'm running the factory mechanical firewall linkage from the carb to the pedal. I was running the original factory pedal but it just plain wore out about five years ago. I bought a brand new reproduction pedal, which turned out to be very poor quality. Within a few months the middle had bent in almost an inch. This gave me an excuse to replace it with a 60's era aluminum racing pedal. I first tried an original Moon pedal, but it had an additional lip on the left side which interfered with operation of the brake pedal. I kept the Moon pivot mount, and attached a Cal Custom pedal. I epoxied a block of Delrin to the back of the aluminum pedal to serve as a rub surface against the factory ball end which has worked fine and shows no detectable wear.
It's more solid feeling than the oem pedal, and works just like the original - but a cable mechanism might provide smoother performance.

Re: gas pedal
That Cal Custom pedal is sweet!!! The old Moon gasser style petals are pretty expensive when you find them at swap meets. Your set up has a drag race inspired look, that I love.

Stock pedal and through-firewall throttle linkage. Custom link at the carb...
