headers in 63 c10 short with 454cu
Has anyone or does anyone know what work if any will need to be done for a 454 with headers to fit in a 63 c10 short fleet? I may be buying one with the motor and 400 trans in it but not finished, no exhaust manifolds or headers installed??? Is this the reason why it is not finished, I ask? Hmmmmm.... If anyone can help answer if this set up will be able to work or if I will have to get custom headers or something for it? Do I have to mess with the frame etc.? This may sway my purchase decision. Thanks in advance fellas and ladies.

Yes and no. It depends on how the engine was installed as there are 3 or 4 ways to do it. Depending on the mount stands used it changes the location front to rear and the hite of the block in relation to the frame. That is why there are different things that work.
Long tube headers will work for 73+ if it is not super low. If it will be low then shorty's can work. I think the factory manifolds mite be an option, too. If you know how it was mounted then it would be easier to figure out.

Re: headers in 63 c10 short with 454cu
I'm in the middle of installing my 454/400 tonight and have 70's G body full length headers and a CCP mount and crossmember kit. So far the only problem has been my tall valve covers and the firewall. Had to pull it back out and cut some pockets out of the firewall to get the motor to sit where its supposed to. I will get some picks up if it fits in tonight

Here's a photo of Nick's truck, before he sold it. I believe he ran a set of swept-back shorty headers for his BBC.
