I'm back! New truck!

After a 3.5 year hiatus, I have returned to the fold! Those of you not around back then, I used to drive a 1980 C10 stepside, and I had a 1984 GMC parts truck, too. After selling both of those and paying off my car, I jumped on this gem.

1981 C10 Chevy, 350 V8, Auto, Power brakes/steering, power windows (which I may do away with). Sliding rear glass, headers, side exhaust (which is entirely too loud lol)... Some rust issues with the doors but the rockers look solid and the cab floor felt good. Has some rust, but not as bad as Ol Red was. The exhaust is too loud for my liking, may look in to some quiet mufflers. Also, it has drop spindles in the front and leafs taken out the back. The guy said he'll swap me the stock spindles for the drop ones, cause I wanna put the truck back to stock height.

This is just gonna be the weekend warrior for hauling bikes and other manly tasks that my Honda isn't up to doing. Well, on to the pics.

And for old times sake, here's what my red truck looked like.

Re: I'm back! New truck!

Yeah the rear bumper has seen better days. May hit the salvage yard and look for something less bent.

No children from my fruit, though my baby sister is due to have her first child next month

The smoked light covers are nice, kinda suck at night unless you put on the high beams (which the p/o wired to keep the low beams on with the highs!).

Stepsides are where its at! I honestly would have taken a solid fleetside but I couldn't let this one get past me.

Like I said, first and foremost is to UN-lower it, kick the idle up, and look into improving the brakes.

Glad to see you back in the group. Looks like you have a truck that's much more solid than the last one. Now what's the crazy talk about " UN-lower it"?

Re: I'm back! New truck!

Looks like a nice truck man! Glad to see you back I'd keep the step bumper, saved my old stepper in two separate rear endings, haha. I am running a K5 as an offroad beater these days, no more restoration projects

Re: I'm back! New truck!

Well I'm torn on the suspension. I could put in a flip kit and the stock leafs, and it would ride fine and be lower, but losing the ground clearance :-\ And the reason I bought it was cause first and foremost to pull a trailor / haul dirt bikes to the trails, and sometimes down the trail... So I"m gonna have to think about it for a while. Still leaning towards going back to stock height, though.

I'm not a fan of that hideous bumper but its utilitarian. Need to see if the bumper or the bracket is bent.
