Are wheel spacers dangerous?

Hey everyone....have a delima....my 96 3/4 ton burb my wife drives has some dodge rims rubbing on the upper ball joint carrier(I think that's what it is called)...it isn't much....just over a 1/4 inch....I got some 1/4 inch spacers from a off road shop today. He said put 2 on each side and as long as each bolt had at least a 1/2 inch in length I should be fine especially since it is 8 lug and not much off roading is done. But I have heard this is dangerous to do. Think I will be ok?

No, not a good idea. I personally do not think it is a good idea to run slide-on type spacers in the front, but rear is OK. Definitely don't stack them.

ya I would not run two slide on spacers. there are a few places that make ones that bolt on the hub and then the wheels onto that. those are very safe. I run them on my yota. they are spendy about 100 each. But you do see people run the slide on style at the drag strip all day long.

i was going to put them on the back of my blazer and desided not to. the shop wont do it unless i sign papers. they said they lock tight them on 3 times. do it let it dry, do it again and so on. as much as i would love to push my rear wheels out a few inchs.. i would be affaid a wheel would pop off and with a 6 inch lift , that wouldnt end to good.
