Where to find bolt specs?
I recently acquired the factory assembly manual with the hope that it can guide me step by step through the re-assembly of my truck. But wow, this manual is impossibly hard to read. I can't make sense of the organization of pages, it seems they just made a book out of randomly placed truck diagrams - a lot of them having to do with the larger trucks which are of no use to me.... anyways my major concern is finding what sizes and dimensions of bolts to use in the various areas of reassembly. There are bolts shown, with numbers listed... but is there supposed to be a legend somewhere telling you that the bolt part number is "this" size of bolt?
I know LMC has great pictures and even some bolt kits but not all of them. I was hoping this manual would be the more comprehensive list. Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: Where to find bolt specs?
1963 Shop manual will have the torque specs. I just looked at my 64 supplements book and it has no torque spec's. It only shows what has changed since the 1963 production year. You can buy a paper manual or CD from Ebay. Parts book will give you the sizes of fasteners or part#s of the specialty items. I've seen a book that was given to Chevrolet dealers with fastener dimensions but they do not tell you the applications, just the part# to order them by.
Torque spec's from 1963 Truck Shop Manual. Which is the base manual then you buy the supplements book for your year. I'd like to see pictures of your 64 K10. My K10 Project http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=397681

Re: Where to find bolt specs?
Sorry I should have clarified what I'm after. I'm looking for more than just torque specs but the TYPE of bolts, ie - bolt diameter, thread, head style, etc. I noticed when dismantling my project that there are numerous types of bolts all over the truck, for instance the inner fenders have one lower bolt on each side that are different than the upper bolts that go to the cab. There area also the body panel style bolts that have a wider head than your typical bolt. These different styles of bolts used is what I need help with. Any ideas?

Re: Where to find bolt specs?
http://www.auveco.com/ we have a distribution outlet in Montreal but they won't sell 1 bolt at a time like they used to. They don't sell to the general public here in Montreal. Read a bit of their site, they ask that you call or Email them for a distributer near you.. I bag and tag when I take apart things now. Home Depot used to have a great Automobile fasteners section, but that disappeared when they got more into selling furniture and crap.
Scan from 65-74 Chevrolet parts book.
