78 brakes on a 66 chevy

Can anyone give me a breif run down of what I would have to do to put an entire brake assy. off a 78 chevy 1/2 ton onto a 66 1/2 ton?
Does anyone make any adapter plates/brackets to make it where you can use the factory bolt holes for the brake booster?
Are there any adapter kits so I wouln't have to drill new hols in the firewall?
Any other tricks?

Here are a couple of links. The first one explains all the options with brake and suspension upgrades, and the 2nd link refers to brake boosters and includes contact information for Captainfab:

hey there,

It shouldn't be too big of an undertaking to convert to disc brakes. the basic run down of parts would go like this:

'78 upper and lower ball joints

'78 outer tie rod ends

If you are keeping the factory drag link, you'll need to get aftermarked adjusters to adapt your inner tie rod ends to them. You can get them for about $50 on Performance Online's website best that I remember.

Re: 78 brakes on a 66 chevy

I did the same thing with my 65. I unbolted the idler, the PW steering, and popped the spindles off the ball joints and left everything connected (all the linkage). Hauled the whole thing over to my 65, dropped new ball joints for 78 into 65 bolted up the spindles, installed the PW steering using an adpter kit I bought, eye ball alighed the mounting of the new idler (needed to drill new holes) and took in for an alighnment. been driving it for the last 12 years without any issues.

X2

I just got my P/S adapter today and it is high quality with instructions. I will be posting pics of my 76 1/2 ton swap soon in my build thread.

Thanks Captain!
