Re: How many 4wd Suburban guys do we have?
First post, and here's my recently acquired 4x4 suburban. No time to work on it now, but I hope to tear into it this winter. I got the truck out of Arizona. It's a 91 body on a 84 frame. 6.2L diesel with banks turbo, 700r4.

How do you like the banks turbo? You have this and a N/A 6.2 Burb also, right? Is there a big difference in power? Quote:
Yours is KILLER as well! Same question to you; How do you like the banks kit? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: How many 4wd Suburban guys do we have?
Here's my 85 diesel burb....I need to get a better pic tho. It's a little different now, made some changes to the roof rack. Over the next couple months I want to put dual shocks on all 4 corners, replace the 4 bad glow plugs that are stuck in the heads, and get the new solenoids on my winch so I can put that back on.

I heard of a trick on the glow plugs, I haven't tried it yet but it came from someone who works on tons of the Detroits and has had specific training. Loosen the glow plug and pull it as far as you can by hand. Unplug the fuel cut off solenoid at the front of the engine. Crank the engine over and the compression will blow the glow plug out. Easier than breaking them off and digging out the pieces... I assume it will shoot out like a bullet though, might want some sort of cushion to catch it. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: How many 4wd Suburban guys do we have?
Thanks!!! I've heard about that trick too. I remember someone said it souned like a gun going off and he had to check his shorts afterwards because it startled him so bad.

Re: How many 4wd Suburban guys do we have?
I cut the bumper to maintain visual lines after I chopped the fenders, and it allowed for a better approach with the tires when offroading . . . mostly cause of the way it looked . . .
