Conversion U-joint. Quick please
Anyone know the part number that would be the one I need? I have a 3 speed manual truck and put a 350 in. The drive shaft uses the small size bearing caps, and the yoke I have , has the big caps. Widths are different too.
Im trying to get it out of the shop by the weekend so an autozone or kragen part number would be great. THANKS!!! |

Re: Conversion U-joint. Quick please
Napa also sells combination U Joints. You might have more luck finding them locally over the weekend. Here's a link, you just need to know which dimensions you're after:
http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Res...word&Nty=1&N=0 Sorry the link didn't work. Just go to Napaonline http://www.napaonline.com/ and type in "combination u joint". When it asks is this for a specific vehicle answer "no". It will show you the part numbers of the various offerings with the dimensions of the yokes and the caps. If it turns out to be a 1310/1350 combination, the part number is PUJ 348. Last edited by markeb01; 07-11-2010 at 09:01 PM. |

I opened 10 different ujoint at autozone. Nothing had different size caps. One was suppose to but they didnt carry it. I believe the yoke i am using is too new, and I dont have the matching driveshaft to splice. The yoke side uses the 86ish and newer bearing caps. But the driveshaft uses the older small width and caps. Thanks for your help guys. I bought this before from autozone on my first chevy 5 years ago, so I'm sure it existed at one point |

Re: Conversion U-joint. Quick please
I just checked at Auto Zone the only difference is the cup size. If its a different width your screwed. You can buy a yolk with a different size u joint. I'm just going to have the drive line guy stick a different end on when he cuts mine.

Re: Conversion U-joint. Quick please
You need the hybrid u-joint, and I believe the 2nd post was right, Spicer 1350......That is what I put on my driveshaft to match to the 10-bolt rear end when I swapped it out....
Call a local driveshaft balancing shop, they should be able to tell you or have what you need to fix it for you.....

Re: Conversion U-joint. Quick please
Two yolks used on a 350 1310 series and 1350 seriers. I don't know which is the big one? New yolk is like $100.

Re: Conversion U-joint. Quick please
It might be easier to find a 27 spline 1310 yoke, which will fit both the TH350 and the U-joint in your stock driveshaft. This is a very common part that was used for many years. If your 3 speed manual has a 27 spline output shaft you can use the yoke from that.

www.neapco.com/n_products-catalogs.php?pdffile=2
this will give you the part nbrs. there is a section on conversion joints. you just have to know dimensions and position of the locks ron and if you had found a counterperson with more knowledge then how to use a keyboard they would have given you one Last edited by padresag; 07-11-2010 at 06:43 PM. |

Re: Conversion U-joint. Quick please
I went to napa...
Napa customer service was less than helpful so I ended up at a driveshaft shop. I'll grab the PN off the box later but I think I hit the jackpot. |

Re: Conversion U-joint. Quick please
I ended up buying the new yoke with the 1350 ujoint insted of getting the combo ujoint. Figured it was stronger. Had to cut about 2" off the yoke to get it to fit right.
