Re: newer burb clip or not?
I swapped my 85 GMC to a 90 burb front grill. Having added relays and a diode to the headlights, I LOVE the amount of light it puts out. But I'm not totally sold on it yet, even after having it like this for almost a year. I'm debating now on whether to go back to the GMC 4-eyes with a Chevy grill, or swapping completely out to an mid 70's front clip.

Re: newer burb clip or not?
I'm doing the swap to a suburban support/lamps/grille. I am also saving my old stuff, just in case. I swear there are more square body trucks with the suburban front end, than with what they are supposed to have. But it really changes the looks of them, a touch of 'modern'.

Re: newer burb clip or not?
it all depends on what and how many of the newer clips are in your area....here where i'm at ive only seen one other, so its like "i'm a pioneer" or something
no one around these parts even lowers these trucks, they all lift em

i like the look of the GMC burb look over the chevy, but i couldnt bring myself to deface my '82, especially cuz of the bumper park lights.

Re: newer burb clip or not?
I am a fan of stock. I bought a billet grille to replace the stocker in m '85 Suburban but sold it before I could put it on because I just really really like the stock Chevy '85-'88 Grilles. That's just my preference though.

I've got the gmc version on my 84. Really simple to swap.

Re: newer burb clip or not?
I would not. It's a dated swap that almost everyone has done. I would keep it original or swap to a different year front end other than new burb/blazer front end.

Re: newer burb clip or not?
It's just a matter of personal opinion. I think it looks good, but I wouldn't do one myself. I still remember the 90s when this was a HUGE trend. At that time everyone was eager to make there 80's truck look like a new 90's truck. There were tons of Burbs being stolen just to get the front clip.
Rather than try to update one, I prefer to go retro. If I had not sold my 82 Blazer it would have had a 73-74 style front end treatment...

Re: newer burb clip or not?
I have the new style GMC grille but I think that your current looks fits your truck better. I say keep it...and I love my set up. I went through a quick how to of the front clip swap in my build thread.
