Post Hood flexes and twists when closing

Even though I haven't checked the hinges out yet,I am concerned about excessive twisting of the hood upon closure(75 lwb heavy-half).The hood wiggles and twists toward the driver when closing, requiring a counter-move to the other side to get it to close squarely. The rear stays raised up about an inch, and just feels wrong overall. At least it hasn't bent in the middle yet, like many earlier hoods I've seen. The hood seems to be properly aligned, the hinges are tight to the body...must be bad hinges. What is the smart fix for this:better, heavier hinges,and/or hood reinforcements? The body(and hood)are straight on this truck(unlike all my other projects),and I'd like to head off trouble!!!

working on it,

The style of hood and hindges on your truck were the reason GM changed them in the '80s. The hindges would bend hoods on the middle edges. I know I had a 77 with a bent hood. You have several options. Stiffen the hood with some braces (I have some if you would like them) change the hindges with new ones or change your entire front clip to the '80 style.

oil your springs regularly and you won't have that problem with any year and please don't change to 80's front end square headlights just ruin the mean look of this body style if these trucks were meant to have ugly headlights and a separate cowl they would have done it in 73 just my opinion

gchemist-thanks for your offer.JC Whitney has the hood stiffeners I need fo $12.99.Since I am going to order some other parts from them as well(I have no phobia about JCW,some people do),I might as well get them there also(free shipping). Burlinator-I oiled the hinges;the hood moves more easily, but every third or fourth '73-79 c-10 I see has the "bent hood syndrome".I'm gonna brace the hood anyhow.Thanks.
