4 link vs. trailing arms pros cons

I picked up rear dif out of a cop car with disc brakes and I'm thinking of doing a 4 link. Is there any reason why I shouldn't if I intend on getting it as low as I can with a factory front x member? It's in a 65 c10

Re: 4 link vs. trailing arms pros cons

some obvious differences are:

4 link keeps pinion at same level at all ride heights
4 link MAY NOT require a track bar if it's triangulated
4 link you can adjust your pinion angle with easy adjustments for good launch
4 link can be set up to allow more or less forward bite and more or less body roll if cornering is a concern

trailing arms keeps pinion angle fairly the same on the swing up and down
trailing arms require one crossmember that can tuck the trailing arms into the frame

both would give better traction than leaf springs of course.

What gear ratio is in that rear end?
Chevy, Ford, or Dodge?
What year is the rear end?

Re: 4 link vs. trailing arms pros cons

I believe it's about 3:23 but I'm not certian. My intention is to make this truck a daily driver that handles good. I probaly won't be at the drags on saturday night but it will be an air ride suspension. Thanks for the help.
