Replacing the stock air filter/valve covers?
Hey guys,
Was going to swap out my Airfilter/Valve Covers, Well, was wondering what lines I can remove, there is all these air lines ect going to the airfilter housing, the valve covers ect ect. Is there anything I dont need and anything I have to have? Some Pics of The Motor |

I'm thinking this would all depend on your state emission laws.

This is my personal opinion but if your whole stock setup is complete and works i wouldn't mess with it unless emissions isn't a concern.

Re: Replacing the stock air filter/valve covers?
My truck will be exempt in 2011 so im not worried about emissions, My valve covers leak really really bad right now to the point where I wont drive it. I just figured since im replacing alot of stuff I would just swap the valve covers out with some fabricated aluminum ones as well as a spun aluminum air cleaner..

Make sure you don't have to take the sniff test next year. even if it is exempt next year, if you didn't get it done this year, you could still have to take the test.

Re: Replacing the stock air filter/valve covers?
Don't get any stamped cheap valve covers. Go with some nice cast aluminum ones from proform. They will seal much better then the stamped junk.
Also keep the PCV setup so that it will pull out some of the crankcase pressure. The charcoal canister for the fuel tank is probably a good idea to keep as well so that you evec all the fuel fumes/vapors.

Re: Replacing the stock air filter/valve covers?
I know you are going to do what you want to do, but that is a very clean stock setup, I wouldn't change anything but the gaskets.
