65&66 panel vans
well i bought a grill and chevy hood 1.5yrs ago and seen he had 2 panel vans......i got a price from him and thought hmmmmm i should go get them,but i left it on the back burner for awhile............then this past week i got the urge to go for a drive...........now i own a 1965 and a 1966 long wheel base 1 ton panel vans
from the back of the cab there like 10ft long......but in pretty good shape all in all i'm happy now for a cpl pics i took with my phone for now |

the plan for now seeing as the yellow one is complete.....get it running and research how to do the 8 bolt disk brake conversion if the original motor doesn't run get a motor in and start driving it
sell you one.......well are you willing to make the treck here? you'd have to bring me some parts with you hehehehe and ya there huge....going to garage sales with it might be a badddddd idea....... |

Well if you ever decide to part some of the panel specific parts out let me know as I am looking for a few parts for my 64...And I agree going to garage sales with it is a very bad idea....LOL...

thanx guys
he put them down there so he has more room uptop(he has lotsa scrap cars/trucks).His tow truck was used to bring em down there,although his winch crapped out so with 2 front flats on the yellow one it was a fight right to the bitter end.....2 days later we got it out(it's been raining here for a couple days aswell)the other one was a piece of cake even with no rear diff currently one is in my backyard(yellow one)and the other is in my garage for now....plan is to TRY to keep them both complete as possible but theres a good chance it'll be a 2 into 1 project......time will tell |

the blueish/green(what ever colour it is)is a 133'' wheel base gmc 6001-100000 gvw panel and a v6
so far thats all i can get from the vin # |

I see they seem to have fuel tanks mounted outside the framerails.
I think the suburban rear mounted tank would've be a better choice for GM! Is there any protection(factory)between the tank and body panel or is it a bomb waiting to go off like the 73-87s.? Very cool score btw V6? american model? I vote for 1 to be 4x4'd,lift kitted with 44s and the other layed out,porterbuilt with 18s That would be quite a pair T

ya there is no protection for the feul tank......scarey thought,as yes it outside the frame rail........yes both had v6's
i am almost certain they are canadian models anyone know if when dropping a 350/350 combo in....... anything have to be done to the drive shaft(lengthen or shorten) i may end up only doing 1 up after looking at them we'll see as time goes on |

Pretty sure canadian models came with chevy I6's (probably 292 for your 1 tons)
Your vin and trim tag will tell all (and the gvw tag on drivers footwell),Aerotruck has lots of info on this kind of stuff. As for the 350/350 it's gonna depend on where you mount it,rearward or forward,and which trans it had,3sp,4sp or auto,but generally you'll have to shorten the drive shaft and your trans x member will be too far forward also (lots of info on this site on this subject) If you do 1 from 2,I'd lower it T

uh oh.......i think i just scored a d60 front diff and a corp 14 with a locker 4:88 gears,and another 454 sm465 208.....all in a truck with a twisted frame........i can get this truck with all the parts at a wicked deal(like $500and it's all running/working)now......how hard is it to make one a 4x4......back to the drawing board i go, will update if/when i get the truck

I think all you have to do is move the 4x4 front spring perches, and motor mounts to a 2wd frame. the rad cross support might be different(stronger) on a 4x4 too..

well i'm down to 2 60-66 projects now.....i traded off the yellow panel van for a 88 swb chevy runs and drives fine(spins tires easily to even in 3rd )i had to try it once......350 5 spd i had some paint donated so heres a quick look at it.....the paint may not last i just quickly fifnshed sanding what the po didn't(took roughly an hr)and wasn't worried about the dents......so eventually i'll get around to the green/blueish panel van and slowly start on it
