66 12 bolt rearend question
Sorry if this has been answered somewhere but I could not find it. Can someone tell me what all year models came with a 12 bolt/6 lug rear end that will bolt directly to a 66?

Re: 66 12 bolt rearend question
Hope this is of some help. If it's a rear coil truck, 71-72 5-lug housings are a direct swap. 67-70 6-lug housings are 1.5" narrower than 71-72 housings.

Re: 66 12 bolt rearend question
Thanks!!! Hopefully this will prove the most easy/cost effective solution to my current highway issue. Another words I'm currently tached out when cruising at 55mph. Now I won't end up with something that will not fit.

Re: 66 12 bolt rearend question
63-64 housings have the panhard bar mount on the RH axle tube. You can use one of these with an aftermarket bar or fab a longer bar yourself. If you want to use a stock 63-64 bar you will need the 63-64 frame bracket too

Re: 66 12 bolt rearend question
I believe the '63-'64 bracket is pretty much at 90 degrees to the fame. The '65-'72's are at a bit of an angle with the shorter panhard bar that mounts to the upper right of the center section.
And to the OP...thetruck 12 bolts were used from '63-'82. The '65-early '70 will be a direct fit to your '66 retaining the 6 hole wheel pattern.
