Re: tranny sizes

It's been awhile since I did trans work, but I'm almost positive that the 350 is the same length of the 700. At least the short shaft is. You can use the same drive line and just move the cross member.

i found someone on craiglist with a cheap tranny just needs gaskets front seal rear seal
gov seal pan seal he says it leaks but it does run 40 bucks

i would have to find another shaft for my truck if i go back to the th400 the driveline is about 70.067 seal to center.

Re: tranny sizes

The 350 long shaft and the 700r4 are the same length. We recently went from a th350 long to a 700r4. They were almost exactly the same length, minor crossmember adjustment, same driveshaft...

What kind of crossmember adjustment? I would like a 700R4, but may need to initially install a TH350. Was the spline different? What count on the 700R4 spline matches the TH350?

Splines were the same. The crossmember adjustment was very minor. I think it had to move back about an inch or two. It was just a matter of drilling new holes in the frame rail.
