Anyone had their axles re-drilled for diff. bolt pattern?
Just curious as to this approach to get 5 lug, but not necessarily have to go through the trouble of swapping rear axles to an open driveline type, then changing over spring perches, trying to center it up, etc. Just wondering if anyone's tried this approach, and if there's enough meat on the bolt end of the axle to have it redrilled for a 5x4.75 bolt pattern.

This is a perfectly good way to go if you can do it yourself or find a machine shop that is willing to do it. The only problem is that some shops don't want to nowadays (scared of lawyers).
You will need to turn down the pilot diameter and maybe spotface on the backside for the heads. What year and type of rear end are you working with? Ray |
