Widshield Washers: Standard or Option
I have a 65 C10, no windshield washer.
Did these trucks come with windshield washers or were they optional? Thanks |

Re: Widshield Washers: Standard or Option
In the '60 GMc booklet the washer and bag were an RPO and had to be ordered extra. I have a unit and will be adding it to the truck.
http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2253...54402330JeNsRD I still need to find or order a foot activated pump.

Re: Widshield Washers: Standard or Option
As far as I know they weren't "standard", but believe they may have been optional from the factory. The ones I've seen have a push button in the wiper knob, and the nozzles squirt through the cowl vent. I don’t know where the factory pump is located, but in general I find them too troublesome and expensive to deal with. I found a pair of factory squirters in the wrecking yard, and hooked them up to a momentary switch and a standard aftermarket electric pump similar to this:
http://www.ryderfleetproducts.com/cg...mpaign=product And here’s a link to the factory switch, although I don’t see the pushbutton knobs listed as available: http://www.classicparts.com/1964-66-...ctinfo/67-648/ And here’s where the nozzles go. They are similar to later model vehicles being a piece of small tubing with a crimp in the end: |

My 65 has the 2speed wipers/washer option. The pump is under the dash. It was an option as indicated on my build sheet,

Re: Widshield Washers: Standard or Option
the pump is actually part of the wiper motor, I picked mine up at a pick and pull before anybody got to it...This is in comparison to a new port wiper I found on line

Re: Widshield Washers: Standard or Option
Neat little trivia here, the 64 GMC and 64 Corvette shared the same squirters. They make them reproduction for the Vette and mount in the hood instead of the cowl mount like the Chevrolet's
