Exclamation Power Steering..

Hey i guys im just begining my first 63 c10 build. I am wanting to keep the original 230 engine(since after 30 years of sitting it started with very little problem) but i also want to run power steering. I need help either locating a bracket for mounting the pump to the motor or info on how to fab one myself.

Re: Power Steering..

The biggest problem I had was tracking down all the original brackets... And the cost of said brackets - $$$$$$

Re: Power Steering..

Very true. I was lucky to buy one off a guy that didn't know what he had. It still set me back $100 for brackets, pump and pulleys. Nothing better than power steering on a I6 IMHO. Just be patient, its well worth the wait, and for the 198/230/250, the brackets aren't especially rare. look around chevy nova forums, guys are always swapping their I6's for V8's and most all later model novas had power steering.

Re: Power Steering..

Not to hijack your post but will brackets from a 75 nova work?

Re: Power Steering..

I believe that the integral head for the 250 and 292 debuted in late 75 or early 76 so, the answer to that question depends on which head you have there. My dad is the second owner of a 75 chevy g-10 van that has a factory 292 in it. It has the older non-integral head.
