50th Anniversary Pickup
I found a 50th forsale in Inman, Kansas. It is a 1968 Chevrolet Longhorn Custom Camper Package with a 396 Big Block. The camper is no longer with this truck but it is all original as far as i can tell and from what the owner told me. He is asking 1500 for it and the only rust i found was the passenger side rocker and cab corner. It has power steering, power brakes and A/C. It also has a turbo 400. If i had the space to take it up, i would have along time ago but being in college, thats just not possible. Anyone near this truck should definitely look at this!!

You should beg, borrow and steal to get that truck! Then sell it if you can't afford to keep it. I would drive to Kansas from Arizona to get a truck like that!!! If it is half of what you say it is, someone is going to get a smoking deal!!!

A 50th longhorn is a rare truck.
How do you know that is an 50th anniversary model? Get a pic of the glove box option list. On second thought get a lot of pics. What kind of seats? Nice find Have fun

Hutch, yeah its a 50th, same paint scheme as all these other 68 50ths had, the gold and parchment. ill try to get a pic of the glovebox door though as i want to see the options it came with too!!! the bench seat still has the same material as it did coming out of the factory, though in "well used" condition. Longhornmail, i will definitely get pics of this truck, if I don't end up buying it, ill have proof its really there! I thought it was a 3/4 ton, but i guess it could be a 1 ton'er?!? What is the way to tell when it has only the Custom Camper Badge instead of the Bowtie emblem? Keep your eyes out for these pics later on!

The Vin will tell you if it is a one ton or 3/4 ton. CE2 or CE3.
if it is a one ton, it is one of 213...the smallest production nmber of all Longhorns. And no tellin how few had the 50th treatment. |

Longhornmail, thanks for the info on the 3/4 to 1 ton. I will look sharp for that especially! Does anyone have any ideas on what self-storage places run for? I mean what rates they might have? I was lookin into that option as well. Im sure you guys would just love to store something like that for me for no cost whatsoever, except to drool, LOL!

Self storage really depends on what you want and where your at. Locally, the cheapest I was able to find was 85 bucks a month. (In Columbus Ohio) However, that was a very nice place with a code controlled gate, all paveds wioth good rain run off...it was perfect with the exception of climate control.
While I was in Tx, the same set up went for about 30 bucks...and if you didn't need a hard floor, they were as cheap as 15 bucks a month. |

I have an excellent and real secure space in Phoenix for $50 for a 50 foot spot.

Well, i drove through that little town again today. The truck is still sitting there, waiting patiently. I plan on shooting the pics after i get out of class. My problem now would be to find someone with a scanner? I could have doubles printed and mail them to one of you guys to have them put on the board here. Do any of you guys have a scanner by chance? I could also check around the school i suppose. Let me know because i will have them developed TODAY.

"68Custom" I would really like to see pictures of this truck. If you don't want it, I think I could give it a good home here in California! It would be a 1,700 mile road trip each way.....might be fun!!
Could you PM or E-mail me his phone #? Let me know. Thanks Jim "69oldie" Last edited by 69oldie; 03-11-2003 at 12:51 PM. |

Well i took an entire roll of pictures of this truck today. I had them 1 hour photo'ed and they look great!!! As far as information, this truck is a 3/4 ton. It came with a mile long list of options on the glove box, including the 4551AA OFF-WHITE/GOLD paint code. I'm not sure if you guys wanna know what all this thing has on it as far as the options, if you do want to know, ill post it, otherwise ill just leave it to the pic to tell. I've decided to look very seriously into this truck as i know what ive got sitting infront of me so i hope things go well. Thanks for all the response on the truck and wish me luck on it!
