Front Suspension "kit" for 1 ton??
We're getting ready to pull the front suspension apart on our 70 GMC 1 ton and was wondering if any or all of the parts from the 1/2 ton kit is the same as our 1 ton truck? I can't seem to find any kits for the 1 ton and some of the parts do seem to carry the same part #.
Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks, Tony |

Everything should be the same. Only thing I would maybe change is the size/thickness of the bags.

Re: Front Suspension "kit" for 1 ton??
Depends on what you mean by "kit". As Jason said, I would use a Slam 8" front bag, but the plates and cup are the same on my C20 as my C10 was.
I know there are frame differences, but if you are just swapping the coils for bags, then it's the same gear.

Re: Front Suspension "kit" for 1 ton??
I was referring to rebuild kit as in ball joints etc. This is a tow truck so air suspension is probably out of the question

Re: Front Suspension "kit" for 1 ton??
I assume your truck is still has drum brakes up front.
Most auto parts stores have the parts, or should be able to order them. (alot of 67-72 parts aren't "in stock",... because there's not much demand for them) The lower balljoints are definitely bigger on the 3/4 and 1-ton trucks because the hole in the lower a-arm is larger than the 1/2 ton version. Tie rods should also be bigger. If you can't find parts locally,... I would look at Early Classic Enterprises. (ECE) www.earlyclassic.com.

Re: Front Suspension "kit" for 1 ton??
Are the 1 ton parts the same as the 3/4 ton trucks? I can't seem to find any front end parts listed for 1 ton, just 1/2 or 3/4. Very confused.....

Re: Front Suspension "kit" for 1 ton??
I would shop for 3/4-ton parts.
The 73-87 3/4-ton and 1-ton parts share balljoint and tie rod part numbers. I assume the older 67-72 C20 and C30 truck would also. Maybe someone else can add some info?

I am pretty sure the ball joints and tie rods are the same. Not sure on the controll arm shafts.
