m&h drag radials

do you guys think a 325/45/17 will fit a 9.5" wide rim? the specs on the tires are tread width:11.3
section width: 12.6
diameter: 28"
circumference: 88"

It will more than likely fit but.... From what I understand talking to several drag radial guys, it is better to have a slightly oversized rim for a drag radial vs undersized. The explanation I got was it lays the full contact patch down since it stretches the tire out. Undersize rim will balloon the sidewalls only laying a portion of the contact down in the center wearing the center out and leaving the edges.

I had a little experience with that with a 275/50/15 on a 7" wheel. The center 7" wore fairly fast and the outer edges didn't wear much at all. Lowering the tire pressure to acheive a better contact patch actually made matters worse as it cupped the tire pretty bad. I never used the full tire.

IMO if you are going to run a 9.5" wheel, run a radial that has that section width or even slightly smaller. Does it look a little funny, to some, but will it wear more even and have better consistancy, I think so..

I'm going to be buying some new rims for street use only, which i can get these rims in a 11" wide, but if m&h ever quit making this size tire in a drag radial, i don't think i have to many options in just a radial tire that will fit a
11" wide rim. I mainly take the truck to car shows and some street legal drag racing events and some poker runs. Then when i go to the track i have another set of 15" m/t rims that i use for drag racing.. M&h does make a 275/50/17, but they seam a little bit to skinny, but might look ok for the shows and hook pretty good for the street events..

We used a set of m&h drag radials on my dads camaro and they don't seem to hook very well unless you really heat them up then they will hook about 65% of the time. Mt et streets and hoosier quik time pros work really well. At least for us anyway.

Mickey and hoosier don't make anything that's 28" tall in a 17". These will be mainly for looks, but when i'm on the street i would like something to hook a little better than a street tire when i'm at the street legal drags. I guess i could always bolt on the slicks...
