Re: my rear end
there should be a code on top of the axle tube you can find out that way also.

Re: my rear end
There should be a tag on there showing the gear ratio. The rear ends have stamped ID's as well.
Raise and support the rear of the truck with jack stands. Read the metal tag attached to one of the differential cover bolts. This tag, which is always present (if not removed by a previous owner), will indicate the gear ratio that came with the vehicle originally. This tag may not be valid if the previous owner has changed the ratio, and you will have to remove the cover to find the gear ratio. 1960-1966 Chevy/GMC Pickup Truck Specs & Engine/Trans/Axle ID's http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=4359596

Re: my rear end
How I was taught to determine rear end ration is this..Jack up one wheel, mark pinon flange and then rotate the free wheel exactly two rotations while looking at and counting the pinon flange rotations...best done with two people. Divide one by the other to determine ratio...
