removing door "smilies"

Any of you guys got some tips as to how to remove door smilies? Or is it as simple as I'm thinking and it requires a stud welder, slide hammer, and patience?

Yep, I would use a stud gun and work them out.

lol guess my mind still does work. I gave some thought to trying to use a slap in there...but I'm worried I'd hit in the wrong spot. Looks like a stud welder and slide hammer will have to be purchased in the near future.

it's when the door stop/check breaks and your door opens to far, contacts the cowl/fender, and puts a dent into your door in the shape of a "smiley".

The best $5 I ever spent was to install the front door checks out of a Jeep Cherokee (has to be a Cherokee not a Grand model). It'll ensure that your door won't open up that far ever again...however it will open less than it originally did.

....This message brought to you by INSOMNIA!!!...well either that or the fact that I'm excited over the fact that I just figured out how to circumvent some of the drawbacks of my disc brake conversion, and I also found an old thread about mounting a 69 Camero tank into a 2nd gen C10 which I think I'm gonna try to do on my 66. Don't really want a filler in the bed or on the sides...so a rear fill would be perfect.

I think right now I'm looking at doing it probably in three maybe four weeks. I have to order the tank, my disc brake conversion parts, and hopefully a bunch of parts that I need to get my truck to pass inspection as well as some other stuff that's to good of a deal to pass up. I want to get the truck running well and do the power disc conversion first, gas tank would be next, and lastly the inspection stuff (I have till Nov)

windshield, horn, lights, and seatbelts. If the vehicle had a NC title when I bought it, I wouldn't need to get an inspection. This is just a formality so I can register my plates next year. After that it'll never need to get inspected again.

Right now the only thing keeping me from passing is my lights. My left turn signal doesn't go on unless you apply some extra pressure to the control lever. The lever also doesn't return to the neutral position (which my buddy with a 66 GMC told me it should). The switch in the column is probably needing to be replaced which I was planning on doing anyways. Aside from that my left rear tail light is cracked and none of the back lights in my gauge cluster work (all dead I think)

Not too bad, youre close ! my switch doesnt return either 65. Figured it was normal unless you're actually turning. Stickers,shmickers ! hahaha ive owned a few race cars, so I go to the same guys to get stickers....sounds like you and I are traveling some if the same pathways ! This should be good. Im actually looking for a second truck, I want to go two different flap jackin ways !

Just called my local go to guy for used parts, he basically has a junkyard in his backyard. He has a tank that I may be able to use if it's in good shape for $10.

yeah I gotta take a good look at it though. If there's rust in the tank it's not worth it, and who knows how long it's been sitting around for. The guy is pretty cool though, he lets me take stuff and try it out, if it works great, if not I get my money back. He's also got a SWEET chevelle that I've been looking at, the body on it is solid. I don't know if it runs or not. If I end up getting stationed here and buy a house, it'll be in my garage or back yard to be worked on as soon as I'm done with my truck.
