question about the step-side bed

I have a question about the bed strips or I guess the cross sills. I bought a wood bed out from a guy who said he had bought it for his truck before it was stolen. When I installed them the wood fit just fine but the bed strip holes did not line up with the cross sills. I actually had to turn them around to get three of them to line up. So my question is are the cribs silks in different locations for the different years. I want to order new ones to fit but I just hope that the bed on my truck is actually the original bed.
