Re: How much scratch?
If you are going 5.3/4l60e around here, motor/trans alone will be 1800.00. then probably about 500.00 for misc stuff.

Re: How much scratch?
Depending on how much you can do yourself, and what you start off with, you are looking at anywhere between 1500 and 5000. I am at about 4500 for everything and still do not have all I need. It's the little stuff that adds up quick. I have to stop sometimes and ask myself it it's really worth it. Hopefully I'll have the answer in a couple of months.

Re: How much scratch?
It can vary a lot. Your biggest one time expense will be the motor/tranny itself. And then the money choices come into play...
mounts - fabbed at home or bought from various suppliers exhaust - manifolds or buy some new long tube headers wiring - modify your own for free (assuming your motor came with it) or buy a new harness/pay to have yours modified fuel - use existing tank with an external pump or get a new tank with intank pump gauges - new electronic gauges or adapters for your old ones (mainly speedo here) cooling - radiators, tranny coolers, oil coolers, power steering coolers... what do you want to run? maf or speed density and the programming to go with it... either way the PCM needs to be programmed to remove VATS, rear O2's if deleted, EGR if deleted, etc. Maybe you want to do it yourself with EFIlive or HPTuners... more expenses. Best bet is do some research, make a list and pick away at it. |
