Any 3/4 ton with 4"-6" lift pictures
I'm thinking of lifting my truck and would like to see some pictures of similar trucks with 4"-6" suspension lifts. Also how tuff of a job is this to do in the driveway, does it take any speical tools?

Re: Any 3/4 ton with 4"-6" lift pictures
You can lift up to 3" and be good with the stock brake lines and pitman arm. At 4" of lift, you might be able to get away with leaving those items stock but really shouldn't. At 6", longer brake lines and dropped pitman arm are a must. Plus getting the driveshafts lengthened.

Re: Any 3/4 ton with 4"-6" lift pictures
Ok thanks , I will prob go with the 4" tuff country ez ride kit. It comes with the brake lines and steering arm I believe. Can I ride 35" tires with a 4" lift ?

Re: Any 3/4 ton with 4"-6" lift pictures
depends on where you want to drive it. If its mainly a street truck then 4" is fine but it you wheel it a lot I would stick with 33"s or a 6" and 35"s

I don't off road just love the room that suburbans offer and you can't beat it in the looks department either, also needed something that can push it's way through a foot of snow

4" of lift over 35's looks great and will run offroad very well in the mild to moderate stuff.

What about the body lifts or lift blocks, what kind of ride do they offer? I don't want a rough ride

Re: Any 3/4 ton with 4"-6" lift pictures
The body lifts won't change the ride, they just pick the body up off the frame further for more tire clearance.
A spring lift will not necessarily ride rough. Even though the spring rates may be higher they'll feel better on the road just getting rid of the tired originals. |

Re: Any 3/4 ton with 4"-6" lift pictures
I see a 3" body lift kit that's prety cheap compared to the 4" suspension. What size tires can I ride with a 3" body lift ( I have 31's now )

Re: Any 3/4 ton with 4"-6" lift pictures
You should be able to run 33's with a 3" body lift. I gotta tell you, I don't know much about them except how they work. When you increase the distance between the body and frame, you're changing more than you think. The steering column is firewall mounted but the steering box is mounted on the frame - you have to watch for stress on that rag joint. The engine and fan are mounted on the frame but the radiator and fan shroud are mounted to the body so you have to watch that the fan doesn't make contact with the bottom of the fan shroud. There may be issues with your transfer case shift linkage, maybe not. Things like that have to be taken into consideration. Then there's the cosmetic issue. The bumpers are mounted to the frame and when you move the body up, the gap gets noticeably bigger. It's something you'll notice in the wheel wells as well.
That kind of stuff might not bother you. To me, a spring lift with new shocks is simple and just "right". |

Re: Any 3/4 ton with 4"-6" lift pictures
'91 w/4" Tuff Country EZ-Rides & 35s on 10" wheels. They rub when twisting so 8" wheels do better off road:
