Rally wheels
Does anybody have any pics of their 60-66 with 6 lug corvette rally's. I would like to go with the police cap but don't know if they will fit?

Re: Rally wheels
I would recommend you confirm standard caps with fit on the any 6 lug Corvette style wheels you are considering. I bought a pair of 15x8 6 lug rally rims for my truck years ago, and discovered after I had them powder coated that normal caps wouldn’t fit, only special oversize caps from the wheel manufacturer would work. Here’s what they looked like. The picture is so crappy you can't see the slots, but the wheels looked just like the ones on the front (except for the wrong cap size):
By comparison this is what a standard police cap looks like on a 15x6 5 lug rally wheel: The crown is much flatter and the rings much closer together. Also note the flat caps may not work on some front spindles. I don’t know about the 6 lug wheels/caps, but after I swapped my front suspension to a 1975 coil spring version, the spindle pins were too long and the caps wouldn’t fit without pressing the dust cap flat. 1983 spindle pins are shorter, and the caps will fit on those okay. Just something to consider. |
