Blazer got some new shoes!

So I bought some 31x10.5 BFG All Terrains off Craigslist for the Blazer.
Then I bought some rally rims that needed paint from a guy at work.
After spending 3 days in front of the sandblaster and 1 day getting high off the paint fumes I can say I'm done!

I used Rustoleum etching primer followed by the Steel wheel paint for the front and the Graphite wheel paint for the backs and sides.

I'm not 100% happy with the paint job but I will live.

I already miss my wider tires but now I can turn without rubbing

Re: Blazer got some new shoes!

I'm not sure why some of my pictures post funny.

I put on new shocks last week as well as an hei, plugs and wires.
Next week we gotta figure out why the carburetor hesitates opening up the secondaries.
Work is never done!

After putting on these new tires I realize I want 35's with a 2-4 inch lift. Skinny tires kinda make it look funny

Re: Blazer got some new shoes!

Looking good. I like the color of your ride!

I have 33x12.50x15's on mine. I am on the fence about the colored wheels.

What brand lift are you looking at? I am thinking 4" on mine in the future....maybe.

Keep us updated on the progress.

Tim

I've heard good things about getting custom springs from Alcon.

I bought the Blazer when I was 16 and these are the first upgrade's I've done in 10 years. Now I can't wait to take the top off

Re: Blazer got some new shoes!

TexasJimmy your Blazer looks sweet! How big are your subs? That box is huge!
I have a 10" JL in a truck box, it is decent for 150 bones with the Kenwood 350W amp and box I bought from a buddy 10 years ago.

But more importantly where do you guys store you top?

My grand plan was to hang it in the garage but now that I bought ceiling fans I don't think it will fit anywhere!

Not sure about the sub size. the box was sitting on the spare tire at the time. It now is down low and the spare is mounted on the back. The system was a bonus with the Blazer. Two amps, 6 disc, equalizer, and many speakers. AC DC, Steve Miller, and Metallica sound great even with the top off.

The top is a beast! I thought my sons 84' Jimmy top was heavy. I have it sitting on four ice chest in my garage for now. I want to rig a hanging system for it.

Take care and keep us updated on the Blazer progress.

Tim

My tires are 31x10.5.
I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post them up. It's supposed to be 68 here tomorrow
The 10.5 tires do look a little off after having the 12.5" wide tires on it for 7 years.

Re: Blazer got some new shoes!

My plan was to make a lift like BobbyK did in this thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=398105

He weighed his single wall top at 240 pounds. I'm not sure if the double wall is heavier or not.

I might just haul the hard top back home and store it in the carport until I figure something out. My buddy is looking for a new house with a shop to work on his Road Runner. I think he will let me store it there.
