"Tilton" starter

Anybody ever use a gear reduction starter with a small block and SM420 trans?

OEM starter bolts to bellhousing rather than to the block.

Just curious as to weather I could switch over.

I don't know anything about the Tilton's, but a regular block mounted GM starter will not work with the older bellhousing like that. Although I have seen guys hack a chunck out of the bellhousing to make them work.

Yeah, I don't want to cut up the bellhousing.... wonder if I can install my stock nose cone onto one of the later model oem gear reduction starters.

Re: "Tilton" starter

The ones I've seen/used are a smaller body, so the older nose won't work.
