Re: New top pics

Looks good. Did you sand the top down to a smooth surface, or spray the Al's Liner over the factory finish? Any photos from during the process?
I need to replace some seam sealer on my top and would like to find something like this to re-texture the the top before painting.

I sanded the original texture off and repaired the spider cracks and the rain gutter in a couple spots before spraying new texture. Didn't post the before pics as they didn't show much. Tinting the liner white is costly so be ready for that.

Not sure how much it added but I only used 1 gallon of material, it couldn't be more than 10 or 15 lbs.

I used the gun that was provided in Al's liner kit that I bought when I did the blazer bed, it is much like a gun and hopper used to texture a ceiling.

Re: New top pics

Sat my 150$ single wall on the tub for its first time, lot of cussin and moving back and forth but I think its going to work. Since this was the first time for a top on had to adjust the doors a little. Also have yet to order side window weatherstrip. Installed the glass today but too late for pics, will try to get some up this week.

Re: New top pics

Really looks great! The PO of my 71 repainted it white. Originally it was that stock blue. I think it's one of the best color combinations. Keep it up!

Re: New top pics

That top looks awesome! And the liner should help to keep it from cracking in the future too.

No paint, it was bright white (concept) from ppg 45$ for 16oz! I had to double up on the custom tint when doing white, good dam thing it came out right or I would have been po'd. Crappy weather here, plan on taking it outside and take some pics in the sun to see how it looks then. Thanks guys for the compliments.

Question: ppg has a bright white tint tgat you mix in with Al's or do you spray the tint on after you spray al's on? Is one 16oz bottle enough?

The tint is mixed in with the liner material before spraying, as for as the tgat you might want to talk to Al's customer support they have been helpful with me. I was told that using a lower grade tint will tend to yellow. Al's also told me that 16oz was enough, seemed to work ok in my application.

Re: New top pics

Where did you get the window gaskets and how do they fit? I've ordred 2 sets and they were way too wide for the single wall top.
