Hey Bias-ply guys...sizes??!
Im thinking I want to run bias ply whitewalls on my trk.
I have access to 4 L-78-15s but not sure if those will be too big for the front. I have 4 really nice plain steel 15" 5x5 wheels. so I know the tires will work on the wheels, but just dont know if thats too big a tire for the front. My truck has 72 disc and 2 1/2" drop spindles and will be bagged soon. Rear is 72 12-bolt bagged with 2" blocks. So if you're rocking bias-plys, show some pics and tell us what the sizes are! Thanks

The modern metric conversion for L78-15 is P235/75R15 if that gives you an idea of fitment possibilities for your truck.

Re: Hey Bias-ply guys...sizes??!
For my low mile truck, I bought 7.10 X 15 Passenger car type tires. Almost a direct match (size and appearance) to the factory tires, (which I still have) but definitely would NOT be my first choice for a truck I planned to use much. If I take a corner hard, it feels as though the tires are going to come off the rims. Mushy as can be. I would consider radials.

I had the 6.70 Firestones. Also, make sure the steel wheels clear the calipers. 1960-66 steel wheels will not, 67-72 are the ones you want.

Re: Hey Bias-ply guys...sizes??!
concur with the metric equivalent is 235/75/15 - and here's what they look like on my truck. Personally, I like a fairly "tall" tire to fill up the wheelwells, so this was right up my alley. They will fit on the original 15 x 5.5" steelies (this is what I have on my truck also). These wheels will not work with disk brake set-ups though, as mentioned above. Hope this helps. (I say go for it!!)

Re: Hey Bias-ply guys...sizes??!
Ok, I have a line a 2prs of L78-15s. And I know where 2 nice 7.10-15 www's are..
so I think im going to run L78-15s on the rear, and 7.10-15s up front. All wide whitewalls. I went to cokers website and looked up diameters and think I should be ok. Plus the 7.10s will fill the wheelwell even tho I'll have drop spindles and bags. Theyre basicly same height as a G78 but a tad more narrow.
