Tubbed stepsides

Who here has done a full tub or mini tub on their step? Since we don't have any "inner fender" to start with, I can't really extend or widen like I would on a car. I thought about using premade blank tubs but due to expense thought about maybe using trailer fenders like I did when I tubbed my s10. Thoughts?

Re: Tubbed stepsides

I used a trailer fender from the local Farm Supply store. (1) fender, then band sawed it down the middle = (2) mini tubs. I then welded some bed angles around it to attach the wood to.

It is functional, but not show quality for sure. It's a shop truck... good enough.

Re: Tubbed stepsides

454 stepside used some fleet side inner fender and just cut the holes in the bed sides and floor that match.

Would definitely look like original equipment and should be fairly easy to find.

Thumbs up Re: Tubbed stepsides

Check out my build thread bud.
PROJECT: "FULL METAL YELLOW JACKET Build Thread:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=321173

What I have done on my truck is a mini tub due to the fact of my rear end setup.
My '62 has a Custom Rear Suspension with a 58 Ford Wagon 9” Rear End.
57-59 Ranchero and station wagon had 57.25 iches (narrowest 9" housing).
Rear-end / Ratio: 3.70 Gear Ratio /One Legger for now.
Competition Engineering Rear Coil-Over Shock Kit with 250lb Springs.
Upgraded 11” Drums & Brakes.
Rear wheels: Weld Racing Draglite 90-Series Wheel 15 x 12.
Rear tires: Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro Tire, 29x15.50-15LT.
Now I did do a similar application like lakeroadster did.
But since I have the bed tore down I am going to change that.
The bed floor will be higher now due to the coil overs.
Maybe a custom steel bed with Competition Engineering Wheel Tubs.

Why I am thinking about doing is using Competition Engineering Steel Wheel Tubs.

Mainly for looks.
