'66 GMC: 250 I6 to 350 V8...?
I want to yank my 250 and swap in a 350. Questions:
As you know this truck has the starter mounted to the bellhousing instead of the block, I will need a V8 bellhousing mount starter right? The six banger one is the wrong tooth count? Clutch linkage attaches to bracket attached with two bolts to side of block(I6). Is there a bracket for the 350 or do I need a different linkage setup? Any other insight or advice? Info? I just want to run my old tranny and stuff, just swap out the engine for now. Thanks guys- John

you can use everything on the 250 from the flywheel back on the 350 inc starter. you will need a ball stud for the z-bar(clutch linkage) as the i6 one will not work

As stated above, use your 6-cyl flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, bellhousing, and starter.

Hahaha seriously I have no idea how I missed that, I must have been tired lol. Sorry about that, I'm usually more "on it" than that lol.
Ok, off to the junkyard to find a ball socket for a V8... I thought briefly about keeping the 250, but I love V8's...sound, power, ect. Thanks again- John

Ok, I looked in the LMC online catalog and spotted the ball socket. Now my question is; on the 350 does that just screw into the block? No extra bracket like the 6 cyl?

That depends on yr of block, some older ones don't have the threaded hole for the ball socket. If yours has it ,it is above the oil filter.

Re: '66 GMC: 250 I6 to 350 V8...?
I had a 87 and newer small block that did not have the threads. I just drilled and tapped a hole to the same depth and thread pitch as the ball socket. Not hard to do.
