Any way to remove dash ?
Is there any way to remove the dash on an 85 cab ? someone butchered the radio mount and it needs repaired , it looks like its bolted on the sides and spot welded onto the cowl area . or am I just going to have to have someone weld a new radio mount in there ? another thing is I noticed the drivers side does not have a vent in foot well area , so I may make have to make a template and plasma cut one .

Re: Any way to remove dash ?
I had one almost all the way out once. It seemed that the windshield gasket was preventing the removal. Prob spot welded under that to the cowl basin?

It's answered several questions I had. Last two days, I've been trying to get the dash out of my '84 project. Thanks, Cayoterun

Re: Any way to remove dash ?
I just went to the scrap yard and found a dash with the radio mounts still in it and cut around the radio hole. then I just replaced the pieces that were missing on my truck just tacked em back in and painted them. Holds the radio fine and saves taking the whole dash out.
Just an idea..... |

Re: Any way to remove dash ?
Ya I think I will just cut the radio mount out of the 86 I just bought (cab is beyond repair) and weld it in the 85 cab I bought yesterday , and weld up the torn firewall where the parking brake is then I am done .

Re: Any way to remove dash ?
My 83 was in a fire and sat open for over a year before I bought it , the dash was almost rusted off , I cut it off with a cut off wheel 3/4" from where it meets/welds up to the window seal, I cut the donor right below the window seal, overlapped and riveted it to the 3/4" lip I left there , let me know how the vent hole works I need to do the same thing ,

Re: Any way to remove dash ?
We cut a piece out of truck about to be crushed and trimmed it and welded it in. Majority of what was spliced in hides behind the bezel, but we did finish it off with some filler/grinder work and painted the dash. Sorry but I can't find any photos of where it was welded in, only what we started with and the used chunk we had to work with.
