Kick panel speaker questions???
I have an 87 SWB and it came with no stock radio nor factory speakers in it. Found that to be odd being that is has a/c and no radio. Anyway I am adding a stereo system into the truck by removing the block out plate on the dash where the radio would normally install and I wanted to add some 6 1/2 componet kick panel speakers. I have found the kick panels for this truck through Q-logic and my question is if any body has this type of set up and if they are happy with the way the speakers sound inside the cab? I am also building a center console box to house a 12 inch jl sub that may also house two more 6 1/2 speakers as well. I wanted to know if anybody had any ideas for this type of single cab set up other than making 6 1/2 into the center console box due to the limited space behind the bucket seat? thank you guys as always for any help.

Re: Kick panel speaker questions???
Kick panel enclosures work very well, lots of guys here have them. if you want to run 6x9's in the rear cab corners, click the lin in my signature, I make and sell them.

Re: Kick panel speaker questions???
I've been designing a part like yours, but holds 2 6.5"s in each one... since I already have 2 pairs of them.

Re: Kick panel speaker questions???
I cut the doors and put a pair of MB Quart 6x9's in each door with a 4ch amp. 5x7 and a pair of 3 1/2 in the dash with a set of tweeters, it rocks

Re: Kick panel speaker questions???
I'm running custom kick panels in my '85 along with custom lower door panels and three (3) sets of 6.5" components. the kicks deliver alot of impact up front and move the 'image' where it needs to be. Placing the tweeters up high in the dash corners will bring them out much more than in the kicks, but can also cause them to be rather overpowering. For the sub, build the console to fire against the back wall as this should help give a bit more impact to your eardrums...
